OH. MY. GOODNESS.
An AFGO is Another Freakin’ Growth Opportunity and growth begins with acceptance.
Yeah yeah yeah, acceptance. Schmacceptance!
How do we accept something we wish were completely and utterly the opposite of what we have now?
What if I want her body?
Why can’t I have her body?!?!
I’m sure you’ve tried so many things, read so many books, lost weight, gained weight, pushed your body, ditched your body… all in an effort to get the body you long for.
You’ve spent so much time thinking about your body, your weight, and the food on your plate, and still, it weighs you down, no matter how much you weigh.
My so-called “body AFGO” has taken me down a long and winding road… very long, very wind-y, and maybe a little windy–I’ve certainly felt like I’ve been blown around over the years.
And then, it hit me.
The “it” was my dignity, slapping me upside the head when I turned 47. I don’t know why 47 was “the year” it occurred to me that MY DIGNITY WAS AT STAKE, but I guess that’s when I decided I’d had enough.
Enough with the bullshiitakes that made me think things were supposed to be different. The utter nonsense that made me think I should be different.
In short, here’s what happened: I decided to Woman UP.
It may sound simple, but it’s the hardest work I’ve ever done.
Ultimately, it lead me to writing my first book, The Dignity Diet: How To End The Cycle Of Cry-Eat-Repeat.
If you’re open to hearing it, your body has a lot to say to you. Perhaps it’s time you listened?
That’s not really a question. Listen UP, Girlfriend. There comes a point when we realize, sooner or later, that the cards we have are the only cards we’re ever going to have to play. Wishing for better cards is a surefire way to regret.
Regret that you didn’t wake up sooner.
Regret that you were unkind to a body that served you for so many years.
Regret that you weren’t able to love and accept and feel proud of what you have. All that you have.
It requires a mindset shift of epic proportions, I realize that. I’ve learned that. It’s a process that I broke down into 4 stages in The Dignity Diet.
When you’re ready to Woman UP and ultimately claim back your Dignity, then you’re ready for this book. If you’re still wishing and hoping and praying for a miracle, no book is going to help you.
Dignity is the only way to regret-proof your life.
It’s also the only true path to health AND happiness.
In love and guts,
