GUTSY NEW RULE # 10:
DITCH THE DRAMA
“We’re not teenagers anymore, Girlfriend. We know so much more. We’ve been through a lot.
We’ve learned a few things. Still, our mind likes to cling to the old habits it learned as a child.
Be on the lookout for the emotional antics of your mind. Drama is a head fake designed to
distract you, or worse, get you to turn your back on your Self. Stay conscious. Think UP.
Correction… my mind loves drama. The adult woman that I’ve become has learned to not indulge my Child Mind when it comes to its penchant for the dramatic arts.
Nobody does drama better than a tantruming toddler or her teenage equivalent.
When I’m tired, I’m prone to go for the shortcut: I get emotional.
Emotion shakes people up.
Waving your arms, stomping your feet, and allowing your eyes to roll a complete 360 usually gets people’s attention.
I get my way.
But there’s a price to pay when we go nuclear.
We leave resentment in our wake.
People don’t trust us.
And unless we know how to repair the messes we make, our relationships suffer in the long run.
Ditch the drama, Girlfriend.
