HAVE YOU EVER HAD A “FREEDOM SANDWICH”?

what it means to feel free

If you don’t have your own personal recipe for how to make a FREEDOM SANDWICH, listen up. I’ve got one for you.

life coach freedomYou take two slices of bread, see, and in between you put:

  • A heaping helping of GUTS
  • A bushel of GRIT
  • An abundance of GRACE
  • And several slices of GRATITUDE

Next, throw on your favorite condiments (I recommend humor, mayo, confidence, compassion, horseradish, and Self-awareness).

Here’s the best part:  A FREEDOM Sandwich builds strong bones and Self Esteem.

However, it does require an abundance of integrity to bite into it. In other words, you can’t just talk about eating a Freedom Sandwich, you’ve also got to be able to bite, chew, and swallow it. Without choking.

So, let’s imagine we’re sitting in an über cool coffee shop of your choice).

I have two questions:

  1. “What does freedom feel like to you?
  2. If someone were looking at your life, what would freedom look like?”

It might feel a little scary, actually, like when you’re standing up for what you believe in. In other words, it doesn’t always feel like a day at the beach.

the business of being a life coachBut looking at you and your life, one gets the picture that you walk your talk; you only say YES when you feel like it, and NO doesn’t come with an apology. Sorry. Not sorry.

A person with a genuine sense of freedom exudes confidence and grace, no matter what she’s doing. Like, for example, when she’s…

Unloading the dishwasher, or

Doing her taxes, or

Hustling to meet a deadline.

One never has to wait for a holiday to feel “free.”

Personally, I want my freedom 24/7/365 and I want to serve it to myself on a glittering silver platter. With a green olive on top.

I’ll settle for 24/6.5/312.

Viktor Frankl said,

“Everything can be taken from a [wo]man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”

So, Freedom is an attitude.

Frankl also once recommended that the Statue of Liberty be supplemented with a Statue of Responsibility on the west coast.

Brilliant!

I agree with Frankl: Freedom is a responsibility.

And a delicious breakfast sandwich!

In love and guts,

Lin E.
